H. J. High has been selected Construction Manager of Indian River State College's new Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE) to be constructed on their Fort Pierce Campus.
The 65,000 s.f. 3-story building will provide training attuned to business and technology needs, with a focus on alternative energies and related techologies, supporting the region's business community and helping to attract new technology firms. The CIE is slated to include working and instructional examples of various "green" building components such as solar and photovoltaic panels, wind turbines, water collection feature and daylight harvesting.
Seeking LEED Silver certification, the project is partially funded by a stimulus grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce. Opening in 2011, the facility will host the following programs: nanotechnology, alternative energies, sustainable building design, architecture, science, engineering and business.
